Add-SmLicense

Detailed Description

The Add-SmLicense cmdlet is designed specifically to make lcensing of the Simply Migrate Management Shell a painless process for you.
You will have been supplied a key from your Simply Migrate Account Manager or Partner. The following is the process of implementing it for online and offline installations.

Syntax

Add-SmLicense [-LicenseKey] <string> [<CommonParameters>]

Examples

Add-SmLicense requires a parameter value to enable the license you have been supplied.
The following example is used as a typical online activation.

Applying an offline license

For an offline Activation you need to supply your Simply Migrate Account Manager will the HardwareID of the server you will be running Simply Migrate on.  This can easily be gained from running the following cmdlet.

Get-SmLicenseHardwareId

The above cmdlet will return a string that you’ll want to give to your Simply Migrate Account manager who will return an .Lic file for you to reference in the following License application.

Extended licenses (Online)

There may be times where a license extension is required.  For example, you have used up the purchased data volume license, and have purchased a further license.
After speaking to your account representative and having your license extended, the following cmdlet can be used to apply the extension :

Add-SmLicense (get-smlicense).SerialNumber
